JAANE KYA CHAHE MANN BAWARA!
We all have those sad days, where the whole seems to be in a blue mood. On such days I tend to listen to this one song a loop. Jane Ky Chahe Man Bawara from the movie Pyaar Ke Side Effects, sung in the soulful voice of Jubin Nautiyal.
The song even starts from ‘feeling blue’ So I would say it is a perfect song for the blue days.
Feeling blue, feeling blue, Feeling blue,
My heart says can’t be, can’t be, can’t be true,
Oh, it can’t be can’t true,
The singer questions its own heart, trying to figure out what the heart really wants. And think about it, don’t we all want to know what our heart desires? He then tells how his heart’s dilemma has caused him to weep as if it was monsoon in his eyes.
Jaane Ky Chahe Man Bawra
Jaane Ky Chahe Man Bawra,
Ankhiyan Mere Sawan Chala,
Ankhiyan Mere Sawan Chala,
The song touches your heart with its more ethnic old-time Hindi, with a touch of Khadi Boli in the way the lyrics are sung.
Saghan anchal sara bhor hove,
Sajan Assuvan mein Ky zor hove X2
Ky zor hove, apne jiya pe,
Man to mara re manchala,
The lyrics play the strings of your heart when the singer describes — very aptly, how his heart has been saturated or drenched in steady love, and then he goes on to lament to his beloved, what control does he have over his tears, just like he has no control over his heart. He almost curses his heart for being so, for doing whatever it wishes to do, leaving him to bear the consequences.
Pavan Purva mein yun udhta jawe
Badra Chanda se mann judta jawe X2
Ave Hava ka, jhonka phir aisa,
Toote Patang ki dor sa,
The singer goes on explaining just how his heart has been doing what it wishes, by flowing along with the easterly winds of love and then attached to the beautiful moon hidden in the clouds.
He then explains what exactly is the cause for the monsoon he has been going through. Suddenly winds so strong, blows towards him and his beloved, that the string of attachment they had is cut off, as easily as a kite would be cut off from its strings, and he is left alone while his beloved flies aways from him.
It is a song that has never failed to calm my blue moods. It is said that songs which are sad always calm down your sad mood, I find it to be true with ‘Jane Kya Chahe Man’.
