Ever wondered why some songs haunt us continuously for days and sometimes affect us so deeply ?

Exploring the intersection of music and emotion might highlight the answers to these questions. The key role that music follows is to influence our emotions. Listening to good music eventually gets reflected in our moods. It makes us feel good from within while listening to sad music or sad songs will stimulate hormones that will make us feel sad.

Music derives the power within a person to confront their emotions , be it anger, sadness, Joy or boredom. Music stirs emotions and lets the person feel. It holds the power to stimulate one’s mood. At times when one even fails to understand their own emotions, music becomes their savior. Listening to music provides a sense of calm and serenity , helping the person to combat their personal battles emotionally as well as psychologically.

Music holds a huge potential within itself to change one’s mood. We tend to think that our mood affects the kind of music we listen to but it’s also a well proven fact that music too affects our mood and can change it as it pleases.

Music in itself comes with an ability to change the way we perceive things and the world around by invoking different memories. Research across the world shows that a person’s mood in their house largely depends on the music they listened to on their way home. When our feelings and thoughts are good or bad, they tend to attract the same or in a way echo it precisely in the same way. Similarly, different music attracts different people with different moods.

Feelings evoked from listening to a calm music in the morning might differ from listening to your neighbours quarrelling or traffic horns blared constantly. Tuning in to a high beat song while working out might automatically evoke a handful of energy that was initially lost. A simple melody in museums changes the entire vibe of the place. Thus, it’s not just our mood that affects the choice of our songs but vice versa.
