Music isn’t just Music, It’s Therapy!
The art of producing pleasant and expressive combinations of tones especially with melody, rhythm and harmony is termed as music and improvising it for mental and social well being is termed as music therapy. Music is the only friend that got all the colors within it, helping to ease anxiety and relieve stress, whether you wanna share joy, anxiety, madness or sadness, it is always there to treat you right. You understand lyrics and fall for every word it says,
“How can I love when I’m afraid to fall
But watching you stand alone
All of my doubt, suddenly goes away somehow…” relates to every person who had commitment issues but eventually said yes when the right person arrives .
“Kaale Je Libaas Di Shukeenan Kudi
Door-Door Jaave Mere Kaale Rang Ton,…”
(Translation : The girl who is so enchanted by the color black is repelled by the black color of my skin ) speaks right about the stereotypes embedded within the relationship goals.
“Take me back to the light
I know you were way too bright for me…
You’re so golden
I don’t wanna be alone….” Hits right to that one sided lover who is craving for that one text from his / her crush .
“I’m mad at Disney, Disney
They tricked me, tricked me
No more wishing on a shooting star…” talks about those who don’t believe in the misogynistic world created by Disney and rants about the “illogical” beliefs .
“I like shiny things but I’ll marry you with paper rings uh huh that’s right…” for all those lovers right there lost in each other’s eyes ready to get hitched.
“Shimmy shimmy yay , shimmy yay , shimmy ya (drank )
Swalla la la (drank )
Swalla la la ( swalla la la ) …” for all those party bonkers who don’t need to decide on their Friday plans .
Music therapy is an expressive art form that comes with multifold benefits to help improve physical, psychological, and social well-being of individuals such as improving heart rate, stimulation of the brain, improving learning and fastening the recovery of mentally disabled patients i.e. strengthening the immune system in total, involving a broad range of activities, such as listening to music, singing, and playing a musical instrument. You might have noticed people listening to sad music when sad, to cope up with their personal or social loss which acts like a support system for them. In times when they feel completely left out, music carries the power to hit them with different feelings and enter into their soul without any boundaries, becoming a friend to these lonely ones when “no one understands them”, touching them deeply and taking them away from the reality.
Music might not be a necessary tool for survival but is an inexpensible part of our changing lifestyles. It brings people together whether through concert, festivities, a club night or maybe in form of curriculum in schools providing students with literacy opportunities, bringing about a growth in society through formation of music communities. Art in itself is a constructive activity that produces a sense of satisfaction within oneself. Thus, we can see how music as a therapy can help people to rehabilitate themselves into new lifestyles and feel motivated towards their health goals and treatments improving upon their health and come out of their depressed lifestyles bringing in an aura of positivity that music tunes in into their lives.
