I read the news today, oh boy

About a lucky man who made the grade

And though the news was rather sad

Well, I just had to laugh

I saw the photograph

He blew his mind out in a car

He didn’t notice that the lights had changed

A crowd of people stood and stared

They’d seen his face before

Nobody was really sure if he was from the House of Lords….

Some things are long lost but never forgotten! Similarly when it comes to music there are certain people which might not exist today but they still continue to shine by their tremendous works. One such band is The Beatles. They were an English rock band formed in 1960, in Liverpool. The band comprised of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr. It was regarded as the most influential band of all time.

Their sound mainly comprised of the elements of classical music and traditional pop in different, unique ways. The band always loved to experiment with different styles of music. It later on also started to explore music styles ranging from ballads and India music to psychedelia and hard rock.

They were the pioneers in recording, songwriting and artistic presentation. They fundamentally contributed in revolutionizing various aspects of the music industry and were considered as the leaders of the era’s youth and socio-cultural movements.

The band was led by the primary songwriters, McCartney and Lennon. The band built their reputation by playing bands in Liverpool and Hamburg over three years from 1960.

They made their debut in films with A hard day’s night in 1964. From 1965 onwards they produced records of greater complexity, maturity and innovation including albums like Rubber Soul, Revolver etc.

The top hits of this band are :

• ‘She Loves You’ …

• ‘ Taxman’ …

•’ Helter Skelter’ …

• ‘ She’s Leaving Home’ …

• ‘ All You Need is Love’ …

• ‘ Strawberry Fields Forever’ …

•’ Tomorrow Never Knows’ …

• ‘ A Day in the Life’

The band received 7 Grammy awards, four Brit awards, an Academy award and 15 Ivor Novello awards. Time magazine had also named them among the 20th century’s 100 most important people.
