Whether you listen to BB King on vinyl or Avicii on your iPod, there are some things everyone can appreciate. ’90s Bollywood music is one of them.

The ’90s were an amazing time to be alive, especially for Bollywood buffs. Not only did the decade spawn some of the industry’s most entertaining films, but these movies also featured some unforgettable songs. Yes, you might be the biggest music snob in the world, but everyone has a soft spot for ’90s Bollywood music. So, we decided to take a walk down memory lane and revisit some of our favourite tracks from the decade.

Pappu can’t dance saala

Composed by the maverick A. R. Rahman, this song went on to become a nationwide youth anthem! A gathering of friends simply unwinding with their peers definitely struck a chord with youngsters all over. Everyone from the group is relatable, whether it’s the Gujarati boy, Jiggy, the sweet Sandhya, the cranky Rotlu or Shaleen, the coolest character in the film, everyone is sure to have at least one of these quirky characters in their lives.

Desi Girl

The track sees Priyanka Chopra flaunting her chiselled figure in a stunning silver saree. One of the most popular songs from the movie, Desi Girl was written by Kumaar and the music was given by Vishal- Shekhar. It was directed by Tarun Mansukhani. Desi Girl even became a moniker for Priyanka Chopra.

Muqabala Muqabala (HumSe Hai Muqabala)

Admit it, the first time you saw this song on TV, you were simply awestruck. We won’t even go into the details of the numerous attempts on your part to get the moves right!

Bole Chudiyan — Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham

This became our go-to song for any Mehendi/sangeet ceremony, hai naa? I bet you still remember the hook steps of the song after all these years!

Not in any particular order, many songs can be added here. I have chosen these songs because I have felt there’s something about these songs that’s absolutely divine.
