Every once in a while we all love that soft romantic melodious Punjabi song that we try and understand to the best of our capabilities. One such song is the song ‘Baari’ by the Pakistani singer-songwriter Bilal Saeed and singer Momina Mustehsan.

The word Baari means window, and the song tells the tale of a guy in love with a girl who has had her heart broken before. Everyone be it a girl with a broken heart or a boy with a crush can relate to the song.

The song starts with the boy singing that he lost his senses after looking at the girl, and so the hot tea in his cup spiled on his hand, The tea spiled because the girl looked at him while passing by. The boy asks the girl to tell him before leaving what goes on in her heart.

Tennu takeya hosh hi bhul gayi

Garm garm chaa hath te dul gayi

Hath te dul gayi chaa sajna

Aisi teri nigaah sajna

Jaandi jaandi dasdi jaa tu

Dil de vich ki tere

Dil de vich ki tere

Main suneya uchiyan deewara rakhiyan

Ni tu dil de chaar chufere

Naale saambh ke rakhde ae

Koi dil ch na laa le dere

Main suneya pehlaan vi dil tuteya

Dil tuteya tera ik waari

Taanhi dil di deewaraan te

Tu ik na banaai baari

He goes on to say to the girl that he has heard that she keeps high walls around her heart and that she guards her heart carefully so that no one can try and steal it from her. He says he has heard that she has had heartbroken, once before, and that why she does not have even a window on the walls surrounding her heart.

The song not only talks about the boy’s crush on the girl, but It also conveys the girls conflicted feelings, about love. She also wants to love but is scared of being hurt again, and come to think of it, everyone can relate to the daunting feelings of experiencing heartbreak.

Mera bhi dil udna chaahe

Par main darni aa

Main udaa te
Main hawawa naale ladni aa

Mera bhi dil udna chaahe

Par main darni aa

Main udaa te

Main hawawa naale ladni aa

Khwaab apne apni akhiyaan vich sambhale main

Aise layi te dil te apne laale taal main

She talks about how her heart wants to fly again but, she is scared. If she flies then she will have to face and fight the strong winds again. She keeps her dreams closed in her eys and that is why she has her heart under lock and key.

Finally, we have both of the singer sing about they can fight the world for each and can die if the other one gets to live.

Tere layi te saari duniya naal lad laange

Tu jiye te teri aayi aap mar laange

The songs take a turn again with the boy challenging the girl that it does not matter how high you build the walls around your heart, I will now steal it away, and the girls say back, she has her heart broken once before, and that is why there is to window to her heart.

Tu karke uchiyan deewaran rakh le

Iss dil de chaar chufere

Bhavein saambh ke rakh le dil

Tere dil ch main laane dere

Te mera pehlaan ve dil tuteya

Haaye tuteya mera ik waari

Taanhio dil di deewaraan te

Main ik na banaai baari
