The self-made Jubin hails from a small town, Dehradun, Uttarakhand, where he has already established himself as a singer before coming to Maya Nagari Mumbai. In Mumbai, besides studying, he was also training and giving auditions for various reality shows. Once, he met A. R. Rahman by pure serendipity in the show where he was invited as a judge. He was nervous as well as excited to sing in front of A. R. Rahman. After listening to his songs, A. R. Rahman gave Jubin the golden piece of advice that had changed the entire course of the direction of Jubin’s journey.

He told Jubin that Mumbai has had its own set of influences upon the people. He has a unique voice but was still young and needs to wait a few more years for his voice to mature before striving the foot in the music industry. Jubin went back to his home and started training under his school music teacher. He even took additional music lessons on classical Hindustani music and Western music. Jubin spent four years refining his musical skills, traveling and performing with various musicians. Once, while singing Mohammed Rafi’s Badi Door Se Aaye Hain song, he noticed the change in pitch, tone, expression and realized that his voice has been groomed and polished exceptionally. This reminded him of the advice given by A. R. Rahman was beholden.

In 2014, Jubin Nautiyal made his Bollywood debut with the song Ek Mulaqat (Sonali Cable). He gave many hit songs like Zindagi kuch toh bata (Bajrangi Bhaijaan), the humma song (Ok Jaanu), Bezuban kab se (Street Dancer 3D), habibi ke nain (Dabangg 3), tum hi aana (mar javaan). He performs playback singing for various films and a well-known name for singing for television shows. A. R. Rahman’s advice helped Jubin to become one of the leading male singers in the Indian music industry.
